My trackpad allows me to move the cursor but I can't select anything. I have the shut down tab open on my desktop and can't access anything else until I cancel that tab, but of course I can't because I can't select cancel.

Need more information:

1. What exact Mac model do you have?

2. What exact Mac OS are you running?

3. When did this start happening? What did you do prior to this starting?

Hi Honestone, thanks for replying.
I have a Macbook Pro, OS X (cant give you exacts b/c I can't open "about this Mac").
My computer was just sitting idle on my desk (cat may have stepped on it) and I have had issues with my pad being a little weird, not clicking before, but it clears up. I was going to go in and reset the pram settings but I am stuck on the shutdown pop-up and can't choose cancel to get back to the desk top and preferences to make my keyboard function in place of the pad.
If I could get rid of the shutdown screen, I think I could navigate resetting the pad.

Hello and welcome.

Do you happen to have a USB mouse that you can use/borrow?
