IPad Stops while loading and screen goes black.

I have an Ipad MC769X/A wi-fi version running IOS Version 9.3.5. 4 GB Free.
Often while loading an IBook the screen goes black and after playing with the home Button a few times the home screen will re-open and then you can open Ibooks again.
Same will happen when openining a mail attachment or opening a page in Safari

getting to be a nuisance.
All help and clues appreciated.

-That model is an iPad 2 (Wi-Fi) 16 GB, correct?
-Do you have a backup of all of your data - in iCloud or on your computer?
-Do you only see the issue in iBooks, Mail, and Safari, or with other apps as well?

Thanks, yes to 2 questions.
See it in the items mentioned also Messenger and Facebook apps. DO not use many other apps

Hello,

Make sure you try the steps outlined here: If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won‘t turn on or is frozen. Since you have your data backed up, it may require you to restore your iPad to it's default state.
