Internet issue

When I'm on webpages the pages becomes unresponsive, and a pop up will appear and ask if i would like to wait or kill it.

If i answer either the page becomes unresponsive.

This seems similar to a virus, but I don't believe it is.

Can anyone help me figure this out?

What is your OS version and which browsers are doing this? I see something similar to this with Safari 6 but they usually reload and are fine.
