codec audio input, no output

I am using a Behringer DAC to record from a stereo receiver (phono input) onto my Macbook Pro Retina, 15 inch, 2014 laptop running Big Sur 11.2.3. I have set the input sound preference to USB audio codec, and the input level monitor on the sound preference screen shows that there is audio coming in. I have set the output in sound preferences to iShowU Audio Capture, but no signal is reaching the Audacity app I use to record. Switching to internal speakers, still no output. Any suggestions?

Hello and welcome.

-Which model is the Behringer?
-What brand model is the stereo receiver?
-Are you routing the turntable into the receiver's phono input, then connecting the Behringer to a tape out or line out of the receiver into USB on the MBP?
-Also, are you trying to monitor the audio that the Mac is recognizing as input?
