Codec Unavailable error. Unable to play videos in Powerpoint

Not able to play video (MP4 file) in Power Point 2011 (V 14.7.0) for MAX OS (10.11.6). I get an error saying “Codec” unavailable. This is the case with all ppt files with the video.

Hello and welcome.

-Is it only PowerPoint presentations with that particular video, or any videos?
-Can you export/drage the video onto the Desktop from the PowerPoint presentation and play it in QuickTime Player?

It sounds like the video itself is the issue...probably due to the way it was encoded.
