blank blue screen..help!!!!

I have a old imac, and ive used it for about 2 years with no problems. i bought it off of a friend, with that said I have no dosks of any kind to go with it. was deleting files off of it and wile doing so I must havew deleted something important, because when I try to resart it loads as usual then goes to a blank blue screen and all I can see is the mouse pointer. Please help me fix this problem. I called apple and they said I need probablly need a disk that they don't sell any more. It's 10.0.4

Help!!!!!!!
