Working from home

I've brought my Imas home from work, I can't log on to it because it is looking for the network at work, I put my user name and password in, but it won't log on, its the right name and password because its the same as my macbook, which was set up for working from home, I nned files from the imac, and I'd like to work on the bigger screen, can anyone help?

Hello and welcome,

Sounds like it may be bound to Active Directory/Open Directory, and local accounts are disabled. You would need to be on the company network for it to authenticate and allow you to sign in.

You would need to contact your IT folks and see if they can make any adjustments remotely to allow you to use it outside the company network.
