SOLVED Internal speakers not working on mac desktop

I don’t see Internal Speakers as an option in the Output window mac only optical-digital out. I recently unplugged external speakers and wondered if that is anything to do with it.

I think so, sounds like your audio out plug may be stuck in digital out mode. If it is then you should be able to see a tiny red light in the port. Even if you do not see it, I would suggest you plug/unplug a jack from your headphones, etc two or three times to try to reset the switch.
I would defiantly go down that route first rather than using things like tooth picks.
