Transferring from one imac to another

I am thinking of buying a new iMac, So the question begs how easy is it to transfer the info on my old to the new?

Any explanations need to be explicit and a step by step guide please.

Plug them together (FireWire to thunderbolt)
Run Migration Assistant ( the New Mac will do this automatically )
Read Each Screen Carefully and Click Ok
