Hello everyone, As the title says... I'm running into this problem while trying to Re-Install Mac OS X, The device is not finding any disks to install on.

Is it possible to get some assistance in getting my device to work again please?

Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome.

Can we get a little more information:
-Which exact model Mac?
-Which version of macOS was installed, and are you trying to reinstall that version?
-What process are you using to reinstall macOS?
-Was macOS previously installed on the SSD, or is it a new SSD that was recently installed?

Hello & Thank you.

It's an A1502 - 13 inch Macbook Pro.
It was with Yosemite until one day the Folder with a Question Mark on my screen appeared while powering on. I'm trying to re-install the MAC OS X following some guides on the internet, Where I erased the disk. When I try to Re-Install the OS the system is not finding any Disk to re-install the yosemite on.

Hi,

That folder with the question mark means your Mac can't find the boot directory. This usually means one of two things.
1) It can't find the hard drive
2) Operating System data on the hard drive is somehow corrupted.

Have a look here, it walks you through a reinstall via recovery. Let us know results.

Hi,

I am hazarding a guess that the drive has failed.
What is the devices age and as Cory asked was the ssd original?

As a foot note for Yosemite this would have been you reinstall route before getting to the disk selection.

A) Boot from your Recovery HD partition by restarting your Mac while holding down the Command+R keys.
The OS X Utilities window appears. Select Reinstall OS X, and click Continue. The OS X Yosemite splash screen appears. Click Continue.
A sheet appears informing you that your computer’s eligibility needs to be verified by Apple. Click Continue to begin the process of installing or reinstalling OS X.

B) If you’re not connected to the Internet, you’ll be asked to choose a Wi-Fi network from the AirPort menu in the top-right corner.
The Yosemite software license agreement screen appears. Read it and click Agree.
A sheet drops down, asking whether you agree to the terms of the license agreement. Yes, you did just click Agree; this time you’re being asked to confirm that you indeed clicked the Agree button.
If you don’t click Agree, you can’t go any farther.

The Yosemite splash screen appears indeed however when I read T&C and click next, I still do not get any disk to Reinstall on..

The Macbook is around 2015 - 2016 if not mistaken. The SSD is original from Samsung. I've tried my girlfriend's SSD we got same model and still did not boot up with it.

Hi,

I've tried my girlfriend's SSD we got same model and still did not boot up with it.

If you can borrow or get a caddy ( they are not expensive) , pop your drive into it, connect to your girlfriends Mac, is it seen and if so check its data.

Hi,

It looks more like it simply needs to be erased/formatted. Is there any data on the SSD that you want to keep? If not, do the following, which will totally erase and format it and you will lose any data on it:

-Click on disk1s
-You should see an Erase button appear
-Click on it and name the SSD, and use Mac OS Extended (Journaled), then follow the prompts
-Then quit Disk Utility
-You should then be able to see the SSD to install Mac OS X Yosemite on.

Again, you will lose all data on the drive.

@Cory Cooper

I do not need anything from the SSD however when I try to erase the disk1s I get the following error : Volume Erase Failed, Couldn't modify partition map.

@oldscribe will have to try it eventually if nothing else works out..

OK, what happens if you click on 251GB APPLE SSD instead? Will it allow you to partition or erase it?

Try restarting to the Recovery Partition and try it again. If it gets stuck again, it may be a failed SSD, or the drive cable.

Update : It finally stopped un-mounting and the usual error popped up. Disk Erase Failed - Unable to write to the last block of the device.

How are you starting the Mac to get to Disk Utility and the Installer in your screenshots?

That error probably means that the SSD has failed.
