Shortcut to prompt for password at login

Hi! My trackpad is broken (works sometimes, doesn't others). The problem is when I start my computer and get to the login screen, I can't click on my user (there's only one user-me) to activate the password prompt. Is there a shortcut to do this?

Or is there another way for me to login?

Why not use a mouse with your machine? That should still work.

Hello and welcome.

If you don't have a mouse available, try typing the first letter of your username. It should highlight your account icon. You can then press the Return key and the password line will appear. Type in your password and press Return again, and it should allow you to login.
