Podcasts not syncing to iPod Nano 7 after Big Sur update

My iPod Nano 7th gen can't "see" my podcasts in the Podcast app and therefore won't sync with them since I upgraded to Big Sur. I've tried all sorts of permutations for downloading but nothing doing. It's frustrating, as I can see all my podcasts in the Podcast library. I did a reset of my iPod, same result.. All was working fine before the Big Sur update. One thing I noticed is that in the finder window when my Nano is plugged in there are two "iPod" devices. One is non-functional, the other seems to be the live one. I have been able to sync all my music onto the Nano but not the Podcasts.

For info, I'm using a MacBook Pro 15" from 2017, Big Sur version 11.4. iPod Nano 7th gen software version 1.1.2
