loosing internet connection

im having a problem with my internet connection, im loosing it , sometimes when i turn on the computer and go to safari it says i am not connected, rogers say my modem is working fine, they have tested the signal strenght and its good, if i unplug the modem then it works. could this be a virus, or a firewall issue, or something else.
