how to work an external harddrive?

i switched from a dell to a mac!!!
i kept my hd from my dell and hooked it up to my mac... i pulled the files i wanted out of it... but now i can't put anything on it to save space on my mac!!!! how do i do this!!!! please help!!!!!!!!!!

this is becuase the hd u had in your dell was formatted in NTFS, mac does not support ntfs filing system there for you are only able to read but not write over it. to solve this problem u will need to format you hard disk using partition magic or something simular to fat32. after that u should be able to read and write over the hard disk
