Connecting a microphone to my MacBook Air 2020

Hi, I have trouble connecting a new Blue Yeti mice to my MacBook. I have gone into System Preferences - Sound- Input - and selected the Yeti Blue USB but can't get it to work. I only get sound from the MacBook mice. I want to use the mice with videos from PhotoBooth. There's probably something I'm not understanding about it. Have you got any suggestions for me? Thank you.

Does the Yeti work with other audio applications like GarageBand and QuickTime Player?

I don't believe you can select/use any external mics within Photo Booth. Try using QuickTime Player or iMovie and see if you can record videos with the Yeti.
