I want to know if it is possible to set viewing options to list all folders alphabetically before files instead of all items listed alphabetically regardless. Similar to windows style viewing.

You could check out Path Finder which AFAIK, can do this quite well, OR, have a crack at this.

I can't confirm that the latter works in Leopard if you are using it.
