Trying to move music to iPhone

Hello I'm trying to get music onto my phone - I have an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017) running Monterey 12.4 My iPhone is an SE (2020) running 15.5.

I don't want to sync, just selectively transfer. I am connecting via USB. I have a ton of music on my Mac, mostly ripped from CDs. I just have the Music app, not iTunes. iMac asks to trust my phone, but then it does not show up in finder or on desktop.

Unless things have changed, transferring music tracks from your Mac to iPhone comes as part of Syncing.
