Transferring MP3s onto iPod from iTunes

I downloaded a bunch of MP3s onto my MacBook Pro OS 10.6.8 and am having trouble transferring them onto my iPod version 4.2.1. What is the best way to do this? Thanks.

iPod model MC086LL
version 4.2.1 (8C148)
I haven't imported the MP3s yet. I've tried before with other files, but haven't been able to get them onto the iPod.

Hi,

I haven't imported the MP3s yet

1) Put the MP3s into iTunes library then make a new playlist.
2) Right click the MP3 files and move them to the new playlist
3) With iTunes open plug the iPod
4) Now click the iPod icon and click the heading music in the left hand column
5) Now make sure the new playlist is selected and sync.

job done.
