Recently when making a backup of a MacBook Pro using Time Machine the cable was accidentally disconnected interrupting the process. When I attempted to restart Time Machine I received the message in the attached screenshot and could not make the backup. The drive is also no longer recognized by Finder. What can I do so that the Mac will recognize the drive again?

Hello and welcome.

The drive may have been corrupted or damaged by the disconnection of the cable while in use. Is the drive recognized by Disk Utility?

OK...thanks.

Sounds like the hard drive may have crashed when it was inadvertently disconnected. It could also be an issue with the enclosure itself. If Disk Utility doesn't recognize it, then it may be difficult to resurrect.

You could try another USB/connection cable, or see if it will mount on another Mac. Also, you could try an SMC reset.
