I'm using Monterey 12.2.1 on M1 chip iMac Blue 24". I was just curious about the processing speed via Thunderbolt USB3 using that with my 8TB Seagate external drive as well as my Samsung 1TB SSD external device. What would the processing speeds be??? Please advise.

Hello,

I assume you mean data transfer speeds? it would depend on what connection they are using and what type of drive mechanism they are. SSDs are much faster than standard rotational drives, when the enclosure and connection type are the same. If both enclosures have actual Thunderbolt 3 ports and aren't using any form of adapter for older connection types, the Samsung SSD will have a much higher speed than the 8 TB Seagate.

If you can give us more details - connection type, exact model of enclosure/drive, we can probably give an estimated speed.
