So I have a 13" white Macbook 5,2 that i got from a family member for free. I decided to replace the old thermal paste, as the machine was running quite hot when I was using it. I made sure everything worked before i put everything back together, with one exception: the sound. I power it back on after I got it put back together, and while it booted normally, there was no boot chime. I naturally tested the sound and while it does work out of both speakers, it sounds very thin and tinny. Has anyone here had a similar experience and/or know what could be causing the issue?

Hello and welcome.

Sounds like the audio cable for the speakers may not be fully seated or connected properly. Have you tried reseating that cable?
