Screen problems

I have gray horizontal lines across the screen and it goes black after a few hours of use. It comes back on if I close and open the laptop but the gray lines remain.

Could be something as simple as a loose or poor connection between the display and internal hardware.

But I seem to remember, Apple did discover that some of there 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pro models containing the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics processors had faulty video cards.
