OS 9.1 Boot Problem

Hi. My old G4 will not boot into OS 9.1. On startup, after the jingle, the smiley mac face appears (which i understand means the system has been found) and then the double lined edged box appears with a large mac OS 9.1 and that's it. The extensions will not load. There is a system folder. Any ideas what's wrong and howw to fix it. Thanks.

Hello and welcome.

A few questions for you:

-Which exact model is your G4?
-Is it Mac OS 9.1 exactly?
-Have you tried starting up holding the Shift key to bypass the Extensions?

Sounds like an extension or control panel may be preventing startup, or there is a hardware issue with the hard drive.
