Music components not communicating.

I've gone back to working on my older iMac
Early 2008
OS 10.8.5
and an even older Roland JV-35 with VE-JV1.
The JV-35 is connected to the interface via MIDI, the interface to the computer via Firewire.

My Presonus FireStudio Mobile will sync with this computer, not with my newer MacBook Pro
I'm not able to transmit, monitor MIDI input, not receiving any output to the interface.
I think part of this is I'm not understanding the Audio MIDI Setup, "help" doesn't provide anything.

I would like to be able to transmit MIDI through the interface into Presonus Studio One, while monitoring it, then be able to hear playback through the interface's Main outs and headphone out.

Any help appreciated.

Hi,

You shouldn't have to do much with Audio MIDI Setup, as most controls will be in Studio One itself. I haven't used any MIDI devices personally, but there is a lot of information on the PreSonus website for Studio One and MIDI:
