Hi all,

Hi all, my girlfriend's 3 year old aluminum MacBook Pro just shut off on her this afternoon and acts as if the battery is dead. The battery status indicator on the outside of the frame as well as the status indicator at the top of the screen both show a full charge, put it can only be turned on when plugged in. Additionally, the date and time have been reset, and when i move her cursor over to the date and time, I just get the pinwheel. Any thoughts on what may be causing this? She just updated Mountain Lion through the automatic updates/app store; are there any known bugs or compatibility issues?

Thanks for your help,
Iain

Hello and welcome.

Sounds like the battery could still be the issue. I would check on the battery status:

1. Click on the Apple symbol in menubar
2. Select About This Mac
3. Click More Info... button
4. Click System Report... button
5. Click on Power in list

Let us know what the status info is or the battery - i.e.:

Charge Remaining
Full Charge Capacity
Cycle Count
Condition

We'll go from there,

C
