Is it possible to use the screen and disc drive of an old iMac g4/800 with a new iMac ?

if so how can I connect them. The new mini will have Maverick OS. Can I use the old

mac as an external disc drive and backup disc?

No

yes, via ethernet or WiFi on the G4 would be way slow. Also I would NOT trust a HDrive in a Mac that old as a backup, it's likely to fail.
