iMac or Mac mini and tv?

Hi my 11 year old has asked for an iMac. We've already bought her a new tv for Christmas so I was considering a Mac mini to go with it. She will mainly be using it for homework and possibly watching tv. Should I go for the mini or just get her the iMac?
