Illustrator CS6 failed

Lost my tools. Nothing I've tried brings them back. Tried to uninstall and reinstall Illustrator. Uninstall doesn't work. Install (from the original disk) also doesn't work. "Installer failed to initialize. This could be due to (sic) a missing file. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem." Adobe Support Advisor is, of course, useless, geared only to iCloud. Any other suggestions?

Have yo tried: top right corner of Illustrator, click on Essentials > Reset essentials. ?

I do know there were issues with El Capitan and CS6.

Nope. Tried downloading the Java dmg, opened, installed it and opened Illustrator with it. Got a long list of unsupported plugins. No tools. Still can't uninstall, installer from original disk still fails to initialize. Thanks for the tip, though.
