For some reason, all my Word files suddenly have the little iCloud "download" icon attached to them. I don't know why this happened or how to get rid of them.

Hello and welcome.
  • Which model Mac?
  • Which version of macOS?
  • Where are the Word documents stored on your Mac?
  • Are you signed in and using iCloud?
  • If so, is System Preferences > iCloud > iCloud Drive enabled?
  • If it is, is Desktop & Documents Folders also enabled?
