Hello everyone,

I am sorry, if this question has been asked before, but I couldn't find anything on it.
A long time ago I made a 50gb Windows partition on my Macbook Pro. However, I don't need it anymore and deleted everything on it. Unfortunately the partition is still in tact and now just wasted space. I tried removing the partition in Disk Utility, but for some reason the '-' sign is greyed out for me.

Does anybody know how I can remove the partition and reallocate the free space?

Thanks a lot in advance!

All I can do on the Boot Camp Assistant is press continue and then the following message appears.

Do you have FileVault enabled?

Try rebooting then see if you can succeed with removing the Windows partition using Bootcamp.

Hello and welcome.

In your screenshot of the Disk Utility Partition window, this is the legend:
Partitions - there are three - Macintosh HD 191 GB, (may be the Recovery Partition) 8.65 GB, Windows 50.7 GB
Blue - selected partition
Diagonal Shading - used space by data on each partition
White - unselected partition

Analysis and questions:
-Which version of OS X?
-Macintosh HD looks almost full
-It looks as if you created the partition yourself with Disk Utility and not with Boot Camp Assistant, correct?
-There is still data on the Windows partition
-Can you click on the 8.65 GB partition?
-How much free space is left on the Macintosh HD?

I did have it enabled. I tried disabling it and rebooting but Bootcamp always gives me the same message:

The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition.
The startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows.

- I am using macOS Sierra 10.12.6
- No, I used Boot Camp Assistant to create the partition. But I didn't use it to uninstall it, which I think might have been a mistake. I think I either deleted manually or per Disk Utility.
- You are right. There is 150MB of data on the Windows partition. I am not sure what that could be though.
- Yes, I can. The 8.65 GB partition is named free space.
- But according to Disk Utility only 6.12GB is free and according to "About This Mac" Storage information screen 4.26 is available.

Weirdly enough I'm able to remove the Windows partition, when I remove the Free Space partition first. It then attempts to apply the changes, but the operation fails claiming that the volume Macintosh HD was found corrupt and needs to be repaired.

Sounds like there actually may be an issue with your SSD.

-Do you have a Time machine or other backup we hope?
-Have you tried repairing it when started up from the Recovery Partition?
