Home button wont open iPad

Hi, I have iPad Air (3rd gen). Recently it won’t open using the home button (for fingerprint). I have to press top button (not sure of name) sometimes multiple times to open it. Sometimes it takes a day of now n again trying to get it to start. The button works fine once I’m in. Thank you and apologies for my lack of tech knowledge.

1. Clean the Home Button:
   • Make sure the Home button and your finger are clean and dry. Dirt, oil, or moisture can interfere with Touch ID.
2. Re-register Fingerprints:
   • Sometimes, re-registering your fingerprints can help.
   • Go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode.
   • Delete your existing fingerprints and then add new ones by following the on-screen instructions.
3. Restart Your iPad:
   • A simple restart can sometimes fix issues with Touch ID.
   • Press and hold the Top button until the power off slider appears. Drag the slider to turn off your iPad. Wait a few seconds, then press and hold the Top button again until the Apple logo appears.
4. Update iOS:
   • Ensure your iPad is running the latest version of iOS.
   • Go to Settings > General > Software Update and install any available updates.
5. Reset All Settings:
   • This will reset all system settings to default without deleting your data.
   • Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.
6. Check Accessibility Settings:
   • Sometimes, certain accessibility settings can affect the behavior of the Home button.
   • Go to Settings > Accessibility > Home Button and ensure the settings are configured correctly.
