Folders and Subfolders in Mac Mail

I was messing around with creating sub-folders to my inbox, which I was finally successful at getting in the right place (using Inbox/folder_name) instead of just typing in the folder name which then put the message locally (I think??).

Anyway, I created some test and fake folders (AND subfolders) in this process and now want to delete those ones. When I right-click and select "delete Mailbox" I get this error:


"The mailbox “Mailbox “folder_name” does not exist.” could not be deleted. The IMAP command “DELETE” failed with server error: delete Failed."

In addition, none of my message are in my INBOX any longer!! What did I do?? Plz help!

-Which Mac and OS are you running?
-I assume this is within the Apple Mail app?
-Who is your email provider?
