connecting to tv to watch netflix etc.

I have a 13 inch mid. 2009 Macbook pro with a min port and a fire wire port . I am told there isn,t a cable to go directly from this computer to my TV hdmi port. the tv is reasonably new.

Hello and welcome.

The Mini DisplayPort on that model MBP will only pass video and not audio via an Apple Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter: About Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapters.

-Which brand/model is the TV?
-Does it have a VGA/computer input?
-What type of audio inputs does it have?

You could always connect the MBP to the TV via Mini DisplayPort to HDMI, and connect some form of audio cable to either the TV or an home theater receiver/processor.
