I just saw this on www.macworld.com:

It seemed that CleanMyMac was making a "comeback", after having a "not so stellar" reputation.

Myself, I use my own efforts, Onyx, and Tech Tool Pro for disk cleanup/maintenance/repair tasks. I also occasionally run Malwarebytes and ClamXav.

It looks like a newer version of CleanMyMac X, V4.1.2, has been released:

According to that, one of the items fixed was "Malware Removal scans got interrupted under certain circumstances".

I'm sticking with Onyx (the Mojave version works fine) and Tech Tool Pro, along with occasionally running Malwarebytes and ClamXav.
