cant get on to internet with wifi

hi:confused:

just installed a ASUS usb wifi thingy to my 3G ibook, seems to have found my wireless network, and have got a signal, and all seems ok, but when i open safari or IE, they will not conect, i also have installed AOL for the mac, and that will not pick up the wifi moden i am using, any help or advice wouyld be great:confused:
