I have a MacBook Pro and when I try to read CDs, it just makes noises and kicks the CD out. I tried software and music CDs that can be read on co-workers same model MacBook Pro. I open up a case with Apple and did everything they told me. I can read Apple OS DVD but no CDs. Apple said me to take it in for replacement of DVD/CD drive as it is under warranty. My questions, has anyone had this problem and replacing the drive fix it? From my past history, vendors some times are not the most helpful. Any one out there got any ideas?

Thank you for your time,

Henry

This sounds like a typical case of drive failure. When they go bad, they tend to lose the capability to write disks, then read burned discs, then printed and eventually fails to work at all.
