Apple SuperDrive DVD Reader: Question On Using Please

Hi,

This is really weird, at least for me.

Have an Apple SuperDrive for reading DVD's.
Haven't used it for several months.

Plugged it into all the USB Ports on my iMac, and it would not
work.

Wouldn't eject a disc that I inserted manually, and became "locked" in it, although
I don't think it grabbed it itself.

Motor doesn't seem to spin; no vibration which you can usually discern.

Nothing comes up on the Desktop for it.

But- If I plug it into an iMac, at our Library, works like a charm.

Any thoughts on this ?

My USB Ports seem to be fine; work with most anything else that
I plug in.

Is there some setting, or something, that must be activated prior to its being able to use it ?

Thoughts would be most appreciated.

Hi,

Tried putting it in and out, many time, to the USB cable, and now it works, reliably.

No idea what was wrong. Motor bearing freezing ??

Thanks for help,
Bob

Glad to hear it's working again. I doubt it's a motor issue, sometimes they just start working again.

Computer voodoo.
