Can I delete swap files from folder private/vm?

Hi, I am trying to clean up unnecessary files on my MacBook Pro and noticed that there is a folder called VM in the Private files that is 68.8 GB large. There are 62 swap files in there about a gig each. Are these necessary? Also, I have Parallels with Windows 7 installed.
I know this thread has been discussed before but not for anything this large.

If it's not taking too much space (like in your case) I would leave as it is. Things in the private folder are not meant to be messed with.
