Possible to recover previously deleted photos in iMessage??

So I deleted photos of documents some time ago and need some of the information off of those documents and can only get the information from the photos. I can still see the files in the message thread on the iMessage app on my MacBook Pro but don't know how or if it is even possible to open those files. They are all .jpeg files. I have attached a screengrab of the files that I see.

I have never used so cant comment on success rate.
