Apple Watch doesn't unlock my Mac

When my M1 Monterey 12.1 iMac is locked and I touch a key, I get a momentary message saying "unlocking with Apple Watch". Then I get the option to unlock with passcode or touch. I have tried everything I found in https://www.lifewire.com/fix-apple-watch-not-unlocking-mac-5191765, but the issue still occurs.

Any other suggestions?
