Apple Watch doesn't show SMSs in Messages app

For some reason, my Apple Watch isn't displaying new text messages in the Messages app anymore. It seems like there's an issue with message syncing. I've tried following the steps in the Apple Support article titled "If you can't send or receive messages on your Apple Watch" and even went as far as to unpair and re-pair my Apple Watch, but nothing's worked—new messages still aren't showing up. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I assume your watch is cellular?

The reason I ask is that with the GPS+Cellular model you can allocate messages from the iPhone to the watch. In iPhone Settings > Messages >Text Message Forwarding. With the GPS model you can't.
