A working external cd player is not recognized by MacBook.

My external cd player is not recognized by my MacBook. it powers on and spins but then the notice that it is not recognized appears. It works well on my pc and used to work well on the MacBook. It does not appear in the left pane in finder. Ideas please.

Have you tried to put a CD or DVD in the player and see if the disc mounts?

Also, you may try to go to the Finder Prefs and see if you have a check next to CDs, DVDs & IOS devices under the Sidebar section.

Yep, it will only appear if it has something to play, even then it will only show a Disk icon.
Is this in macOS Sonoma?
