External Mic Not Working in Dictation

I'm trying to use an external mic for dictation and can't get Dictation in the Keyboard preferences to acknowledge it. The mic has two available sources, both involving a digital interface going into the iMac for my my Pro Tools DAW, via my Audio Midi setup. One is straight from my Apollo interface, identified as "Universal Audio Thunderbolt," connected to one of the two Thunderbolt inputs. The other is "Pro Tools Aggregate," set up in the Audio Midi Setup. In my Sound preferences, both of these sources register on the meter when selected, so the iMac is recognizing them, but when I select either of them in the Dictation preferences, neither will register. The internal micro, however, does register in Dictation.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hello and welcome.
  • Which model Mac?
  • Which version of macOS?
  • Which UAD Apollo (mine is an Apollo x4 which I love!!)
  • How is UAD Console setup?
  • What brand/model mic?
Is this what you are seeing:

I haven't used Dictation personally. We'll see what we can figure out.
