What Do I Need?

I have a 5 year old Mac Mini with accumulated apps. There are a lot of junk apps and I probably don't have the best ones (too often free). Let's say I was a brand new user and wanted to get the best basic apps to get started. I like MS Word and Excel, and have my pics on iPhoto. I'm not a power-user; just word, spreadsheet, pics and mail and system protection.

So, if you were sitting at my desktop Mac Mini, what would you install? I will pay for good apps.

Sonoma 14.1.2
1920 x 1080 Monitor
