I recently tried to Skype a colleague but, when I loaded it, it came up with a message that I needed to download a new version. This I did but when I tried to load it another message came up that I needed to update my computer operating system to Mac OS X 10.9. _ At present mine is 10.7.5. But when I tried to upgrade it said that my software was up to date and “Software Update doesn’t have any new software for your computer at this time”. i.e. I could not upgrade to OS 10.9. Is there anything I can do?

In Finder look up to the left side of the screen for the . Click on it & choose "About This Mac". Tell us exactly what it says about your Mac. Then we can take it from there. Skype is constantly moving forward & dumping support for older unsupported Macs. My late 2006 iMac Core 2 Duo can no longer run Skype nor can it be updated beyond 10.7.5.

Hi,

Your OS X 10.9 is Lion the present Skype version is 7.51(593) as my screen shot, and needs OS X
Mavericks and above.

Also this was posted on the Skype forum on the 25th July 2017.

Welcome to the Skype Community Forum

To continue using Skype, update your MacBook Pro to at least 10.9 or higher. Beginning July 1, 2017, users running older versions of Skype for Windows desktop and Skype for Mac will no longer be able to sign into Skype.

So looks the new owners have killed Skype for older windows and Mac operating systems. :( and we all know who runs Skype now.o_O
