Unlock macOS Sonoma w/Apple Watch frustration level 12

I keep having to resync the connection between my Mac and my watch. It will work for a while and then starts requiring my finger (which I gladly provide). Sometimes even a resync doesn’t work and I have to unsync, power cycle the watch and then the Mac and then resync them, it works again and I’m on my merry way until IT QUITS WORKING AGAIN!!! Is it just me? does anybody else experience this frustration?

MBP 16” M2Max, Sonoma (no sequoia… (yet)) and Apple Watch 9 watchOS 10.5 (no beta yet)
