SOLVED Purchased Pre-Owned Unlocked iPhone, How to Activate?

Need advice regarding how I activate a pre-owned unlocked iPhone I purchased, and port over my data.
I have an active iPhone under a family members service plan.

Do I simply take the SIM card out of the old iPhone and put it in the new iPhone then turn it on?
Or do I go to the service providers local store or Apple Store? What if any account information would I need?

I just had to insert my sim card, and set up the iPhone with my apple ID and everything was Hunky Dory.
