My Mac OS X startup disk has no more space available for application memory.
Closing windows and removing files from your start up disk will also help.

Q: how do I remove files from my start up disk?

Hi Steve,

It depends what types of "extraneous" files/folders they are. For applications-related files (lie a document created with a Word Processing program like Word, or an Excel spreadsheet), you can simply drag them to the Trash. Then, from the Apple Menu, select Secure Empty Trash. This can take some time, but it will "deep clean" those files off.

There are other files in other folders that you can do the same thing, but in some cases, you need to be careful what you are removing.
