I am wondering if it is possible to buy an extra keyboard for my MacBook Pro and program the extra keyboard to be shortcuts for different programs. What I mean is, I am a graphic designer and I want to use my MacBook Pro keyboard as what a normal keyboard is but have the extra be used to switch to different tools and stuff quicker. For example I am working with the Pen tool in adobe Illustrator and then want to switch to another tool by pressing a key I define on the extra keyboard.

Hello and welcome.

I don't know if this is possible. I would think you would need a third-party app to assign shortcuts to an external. It is my understanding that shortcuts created in System Preferences... > Keyboard > Shortcuts apply to all connected keyboards simultaneously.

I will take a look around and see if I can find anything to help you out.
