Hello and welcome.

Since the trackpad is not a user-serivceable part, there could be some form of static or cable damage that occurred during the replacement. That said:

-Was there liquid spilled on the keyboard/Mac previously?
-Did you seat all the cables properly?
-Do you have a USB keyboard that you can test with?

Dear Cory,

I am not sure about the liquid. I am suspecting there was, because of the track pad getting all crazy and because dipping it in pure alcohol solved the problem.

Also, I'm still suspecting that the key problem comes from the pad as they did suddenly work until the computer was restarted and also because if you disconnect the pad completely and turn the laptop on it tells you there is no keyboard. So the mouse connector is somehow related to the keyboard.

I will try and find an external keyoard and let you know.

The keyboard cable is separate from the trackpad cable, so they shouldn't affect each other unless the keyboard cable (Step 11) was damaged, or the connection was loosened. Since it is specific keys, I would lean more towards liquid/physical damage in that area of the keyboard. Unfortunately, the keyboard is part of the top case assembly, which is a difficult replacement, since everything component has to be moved to the replacement part.

Let us now how the external keyboard works out.
